How Braces Work
Braces move your teeth into proper position by applying steady pressure over time. Several brackets are adhered to specific teeth and threaded with a wire which is tightened over a specified time frame to straighten teeth and move them to the desired position. Braces are used to correct various issues with one’s teeth, including crooked, crowded, and gapped teeth.
Components of Braces
Treatment with braces will involve the placement of brackets which are made of metal or ceramic. A thin wire is threaded through the brackets which applies pressure. Bands are used to hold the wire firmly to each bracket. Other components or appliances, such as springs, may be utilized as part of your individual treatment plan.
