Types of Braces
Award-Winning Orthodontic Treatment
During your consultation, Dr. Dierkes will discuss the options for types of braces, as well as inform you which option he feels will be appropriate for your treatment. In some cases, you may have a choice, but in other treatment scenarios, one type may be preferred. Dr. Dierkes uses both metal and ceramic braces.
Metal Braces
When you think of braces, you probably picture the metal type. Metal braces are what most people think of when they picture braces and are the most common form of braces used in treatment. Over the years, these braces have evolved with new technology to be both attractive and comfortable. Made of durable stainless steel, metal braces are adhered to the tooth and connected with a wire.
Fun with Metal Braces
Children and teens enjoy metal braces because they can customize their colors! Colored bands can be added to a patient’s braces and come in a multitude of color options. Each patient can make their braces as unique as they are.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces, also known as clear braces work the same way as metal braces, but they look different. While brackets are a bit bigger, ceramic braces are made of a clear material which is much less noticeable. Ceramic braces may be used in combination with metal braces in your treatment. Due to their size, ceramic braces are typically not used on lower teeth but can be an ideal treatment solution for upper teeth.
Who Can Use Ceramic Braces?
Ceramic braces can be used for treating children and adults. Because of their nearly invisible appearance, ceramic braces are a popular choice for older teenagers and adults who need braces. If you are concerned about the look of braces, ceramic braces may be the appropriate solution to ease your concerns and provide the treatment you need. Dr. Dierkes will determine if ceramic braces can be used in your treatment.
How Much Do Braces Cost?
The cost of treatment with metal braces will vary based on your personal treatment plan. Scheduling a consultation with Dr. Dierkes will give you the opportunity to get answers to all your questions about braces, including the expense. Financing is available for braces and your dental insurance may offer coverage.
